Chutoro offers a harmonious blend of fat and lean meat, making it highly sought after for its flavour and mouthfeel. Much loved for its fatty, rich, red meat, the Southern Bluefin Tuna are caught from the southern waters of Australia. Bluefin Tuna’s sashimi meat makes this species the most demanded, rare, and expensive tuna species. Presently, > 90% of the Southern Bluefin Tuna catch from Australia is consumed by Japan.
How to defrost blue-fin tuna
Method 1 :
- Remove the frozen tuna from its packaging and place it in a bowl lined with paper towels.
- Ensure that you cover the bowl with plastic wrap or paper towels.
- Put the bowl with the tuna alone on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator to avoid cross-contamination.
- Leave the tuna to thaw for 8 to 12 hours.
- Once it is thawed, pat dry with paper towels.
Method 2
Defrost the tuna quickly by placing it in a sealable plastic bag, removing the air, and putting the tuna in cold water (+10°C—+20°C) for 30-60 minutes.
